Steve Leicester and Liam Carter complete remarkable 500-Km charity cycle for ICMIF Foundation and DHAN
UNITED KINGDOM, September 2024 — Steve Leicester, Chief Financial Officer, and Liam Carter, Senior Vice President for Sustainability at ICMIF, have successfully completed a challenging 500-kilometer charity cycle in just five days. Their journey was undertaken to raise awareness of the ICMIF Foundation and raise funds for DHAN Foundation mutual microinsurance program in India.
Liam Carter said: “I wanted a significant physical challenge, and when Steve and I combined our ideas, we agreed on a 500km cycle ride to raise awareness of The ICMIF Foundation. This has been an incredible journey, and despite the physical strain, we are driven by the cause.”
After extensive training and overcoming numerous setbacks, Steve and Liam started with a 75-kilometer warm-up ride to Old Trafford, Manchester, followed by a demanding 110-kilometer trek to Liverpool. The following weekend, they pushed further with an impressive 116-kilometer round trip to Liverpool, the City of Culture, and back. The adventure concluded with a 133-kilometer ride to Rochdale, the birthplace of the cooperative movement—a symbolic finish to their extensive challenge.
Steve Leicester said, "This year is a great opportunity to raise awareness about The ICMIF Foundation and its impactful projects. Inspired by the stories of policyholders, I wanted to take on a significant challenge. The struggles of these low-income communities drive me to help in any way I can."
Steve and Liam extend their heartfelt thanks to everyone at ICMIF, their generous members, family, and friends for their unwavering support. Donations, which will benefit the DHAN Foundation, are still welcome via their JustGiving page: https://lnkd.in/gqmYQ78Q.
